The definition of "Mid-Century Modern" in Wikipedia differs somewhat from the definition I have for it. I'm using the term to describe the somewhat futuristic-looking, often curved or pointed modernist architecture that was prevalent from the 1950's to the early 1970s. I've intentionally completely ignored ugly, uncreative, and horridly conforming architecture, especially "international style", because in my opinion, it is disgusting. I also am including the futuristic architecture often called "Googie" which was popular through the 1950s and the early sixties. Unfrortunately, the Googie style quickly fell out of favor after its heyday, and the demolitions ensued, leaving few reminders of that period's zeitgeist. The history of architecture is all too often a sad one indeed. :(
